What does your brand mean to us.
We are all surrounded by brands, small brands, large brands en perhaps you yourself is a brand.
A brand can make us smile, laugh, cry and fall in love over and over again. You know what I mean.
For many brands around us and especially big brands we know the story, take McDonalds for example, founded by two brothers with the love for quality and control with an innovative approach. Eventually purchased for it’s value.
There are many more brands that we never heard off but with probably a beautiful story about the love for their product, their customer and then their brand.
Let me tell you about me, not the brand me but just me. And then you can tell me about you.
I am born and raised in a three bedroom house with 5 brothers and sisters.
from these 5 i am third. I remember waking up later than usual one day to find that there were no more socks, wise lesson learned, secure my socks. Going to the bathroom before sleep generated a queue in the hallway outside the bathroom. Freezing nights, we would place blankets on the floor in the living room and sleep next to each other, at least try to sleep.
Just wait for it, we are getting there, patience.
With age 12 i was kicked from soccer, there was no money to pay the bill and i had to work for it, so i did, by delivering newspapers. Not knowing that working for it means working for the family. No soccer and no money, no money means no friends and so i had to be creative and i did by selling my leftover newspaper for a small fee. I have not stopped working since, 6 years for the family and after that for my own consumption.
The hard part with work for me was to fit in and to be like minded with my colleagues, I clearly though differently, looked for advancing, be more efficient and service oriented in the tasks i had to perform and that i really loved to perform. The older i became the more i considered myself working with clowns who had no idea what they were doing so i quit the “circus” and started my own company. Sounds familiar?
This is my brand, regardless of the name, how trendy or flashy or unique, our brand is the promise that we make to our friends and everyone else who is not yet our friends. If your kid got a plastic shark in his eye and we have to reschedule, we are concerned about your kid, if your system is down and therefore we have to wait 24 hours, so be it. You know who you are 🙂
